On Friday, December 26, 2025, the commissioned program for Singapore Nanyang Technological University (the 2025 NTU-EWHA Winter Korean Language Immersion Program) was successfully concluded. A total of 58 students from NTU participated in the program from December 8 to December 26. In the mornings, students attended Korean language classes, while in the afternoons they took part in a wide range of Korean cultural activities. These included Korean cooking experiences, creating Hangul-designed keychains, visiting Gyeongbokgung Palace in Hanbok, touring the National Museum of Korea, participating in K-pop dance classes, and watching The Painters performance. In addition, students participated in a campus tour of Ewha Womans University and a buddy program with Ewha students. All 58 participants successfully completed the program with excellent academic performance. The program offered the students a meaningful opportunity to enhance their Korean language proficiency and deepen their understanding of Korean culture. Based on the high level of participant satisfaction, ELC plans to further expand a variety of international exchange programs through continued collaboration with Nanyang Technological University.

The 2025 Winter Semester Intensive Program Scholarship Award Ceremony was held on Tuesday, December 16, in Room 101. Each semester, the Ewha Language Center selects students with outstanding academic performance and and awards the Korean Language Excellence Scholarship, which covers 50% of the Intensive Program tuition. This semester, a total of eight students who achieved the highest grades in each level were awarded scholarships. For levels 2–4, two students from each level were selected as scholarship recipients. This semester’s recipients are: HUNG TSEN LING, AN SHITING (Level 2), YING XIN NING, KASUYA NATSUMI (Level 3), MATSUKAWA REONA, ISHIGAKI HARUNA (Level 4). For levels 5–6, one student from each level was selected: SUGIYAMA MIKOTO (Level 5) and OTOMO CHIEKO (Level 6). Teachers from the Korean Language Education Department as well as friends of the scholarship students attended the ceremony, making the event more meaningful and memorable. In particular, during the students’ remarks, they expressed their deep gratitude to the teachers who have taught them, which was very moving.

On December 2, 2025, 「New Ewha Korean Workbook 4-1 & 4-2」 was published. This workbook was authored by seven instructors with many years of Korean language teaching experience at the Ewha Language Center. It is designed to help learners review and internalize the content learned in 「New Ewha Korean 4-1 & 4-2」, which was published in March of this year. The workbook provides a variety of practice exercises based on the vocabulary, expressions, grammar, listening, speaking, reading, and writing content covered in the main textbook. Additionally, grammar explanations for each unit are included in the appendix, allowing learners to study independently. Since the publication of the 「New Ewha Korean」 series began with 「New Ewha Korean 1-1, 1-2(English, Japanese, Chinese[Traditional & Simplified])」 in November 2023, the main textbooks 「New Ewha Korean 2-1, 2-2」, 「New Ewha Korean 3-1, 3-2」, 「New Ewha Korean 4-1, 4-2」, as well as the workbooks 「New Ewha Korean Workbook 1-1, 1-2」, 「New Ewha Korean Workbook 2-1, 2-2」, 「New Ewha Korean Workbook 3-1, 3-2」 have been steadily published. The main textbooks and workbooks corresponding to levels 5 and 6 are also planned for future release.

In the 2025 Fall semester, eight partner universities participated in the Intensive Course of the Korean Language Department, including Aichi Shukutoku University, Konan Women’s University, and Saitama Women’s University. A series of meetings targeting these universities were held from Tuesday, October 21 to Friday, October 24, with each university meeting in turn. During the meetings, students and staff exchanged opinions about life in Korea, campus life, cultural classes, Korean language classes, and activities with Korean-language assistants. Overall, students showed high satisfaction with their Korean language classes as well as their campus experience. This Intensive Course is scheduled to conclude with the completion ceremony on Wednesday, November 19.

The 2025 Fall Intensive Course Scholarship Award Ceremony was held on Tuesday, September 16. During this ceremony, scholarships were awarded to the top academic achievers at each level, with a total of eight students receiving scholarships. The ceremony was attended by Director Sunhee Park, Deputy Director Jeonga Chu, and instructors from the Korean Language Education Department, who congratulated the scholarship recipients on their achievements. Friends of the scholarship recipients also joined the event, making the occasion even more meaningful. The ceremony began with congratulatory remarks from the Director of the Ewha Language Center, followed by the awarding of scholarship certificates, speeches from the recipients, and a commemorative photo session. In their heartfelt speeches, the scholarship recipients expressed deep gratitude to their instructors for their guidance, leaving a lasting impression on the audience. The Ewha Womans University Language Center awards the Scholarship each semester to students with outstanding academic performance. The scholarship covers 50% of the tuition fee for the Intensive Program.

In September 2025, a total of nine partner universities participated in the Ewha Korean Language Short-Term Program, including Showa Women's University, Kobe University, Aichi Shukutoku University, and Seinan Gakuin University. A series of meetings with each university were held from Wednesday, September 10, to Thursday, September 18. During these meetings, students shared their opinions on life in Korea, academic life, cultural classes, Korean language courses, and activities with Korean language assistants. Overall, students expressed high satisfaction with their life in Korea and the Korean language classes, and they particularly enjoyed the Korean language assistant activities conducted with Ewha students. The Short-Term Program will conclude with a closing ceremony on Friday, September 19.

The Fall semester of 2025 has begun at the Ewha Language Center. The Short-Term Korean language program started on September 1st (Mon), and the Intensive Korean language program began on September 4th (Thu). In the Short-Term Program, students will enjoy not only Korean language classes but also cultural activities such as “Wearing Hanbok and Visiting Gyeongbokgung Palace,” “Making Keychains with Dancheong Patterns,” and “Creating Handicrafts with Hangeul Designs.” The Intensive Program also offers various cultural classes by level, including “Learning Taekwondo,” “Traditional Etiquette at Unhyeongung Palace,” and “Visiting the Seoul Museum of Art and Seokpajeong.” This fall semester, students from 8–9 partner universities and institutions around the world are studying Korean and Korean culture at the Ewha Language Center. After the opening ceremony, an additional orientation and campus tour in multiple languages were held for new students who are studying Korean for the first time at ELC. The Fall Short-Term Program will end on September 19th (Fri), and the Intensive Program will conclude on November 19th (Wed).
