2024 Singapore Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Commissioned Program The Ewha Womans University Language Center has been running the Singapore Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Commissioned Program (2024 NTU-EWHA Winter Korean Language Immersion Program) since December 9, 2024 (Mon). A total of 51 students from NTU will participate in the program for 13 days, taking 56 hours of Korean language classes and 20 hours of Korean cultural activities. The Korean cultural activities are diverse, including experiences such as wearing Hanbok (traditional Korean clothing), Korean crafts, Korean cuisine cooking, K-POP dance, as well as visits to museums, cultural landmarks, and watching performances. Additionally, time will be allocated for meeting with Ewha Womans University students, allowing students to exchange views on university life in Singapore and Korea, as well as the cultural differences between the two countries. The commissioned programs at Ewha Womans University Language Center are customized courses created based on requests from foreign universities and Korean language-related institutions. These programs provide Korean language lessons based on communicative language teaching and a variety of Korean cultural experiences. The NTU commissioned program will conclude with a graduation ceremony on December 27, 2024 (Fri).

2024 Fall Semester Intensive Program Graduation Ceremony The graduation ceremony for the 2024 Fall Semester of the Korean Language Education Department at the Language Education Institute was held on Thursday, November 21st, at 12:00 PM. Students watched a video showcasing their 10 weeks of activities, which helped ease the bittersweet feeling of the ceremony. Outstanding students who achieved the highest grades in each class were awarded the Excellence Award, and certificates of completion were presented to students who successfully completed the program. Fall semester intensive course students also created wonderful memories through cultural classes, including a visit to Seoul Land. After-school cultural activities such as "Making Traditional Korean Half-Moon Cakes," "Cooking Korean Food," and "Excursion to Gyeonghui Palace" were also well received by students. In addition, various student clubs, including the "Dance Club" and "Exploration Club," provided students with an enriching semester. The 2024 Winter Semester Intensive Program will begin on Thursday, December 5th.

September 2024 Short-Term Program Completion Ceremony The completion ceremony for the September 2024 short-term program was held on Thursday, September 26th, at 5 PM. Over 60 students participated in the September short-term program, including students from our partner institution, Kobe University in Japan. The ceremony included a video showcasing the activities over the three weeks, the awarding of honors and certificates, congratulatory remarks, and reflections from the students. As students watched the video highlights of activities such as the "Gyeongbokgung Palace tour and trying on hanbok" and "cooking songpyeon", smiles lit up their faces. The students also found comfort in listening to the reflections from representatives of each class, easing the sense of loss at the ceremony. The short-term program at Ewha Womans University Language Center is a three-week program focusing on Korean language and culture, primarily designed for students who wish to intensively learn Korean during their vacation or holiday.

Presentation Ceremony for Scholarship Certificate for Fall Semester 2024 The scholarship award ceremony for the 2024 fall semester intensive program was held on Monday, September 23rd. During this ceremony, scholarships were awarded to a total of eight students who achieved the highest academic performance in their respective levels. Ewha Womans University Language Center grants academic excellence scholarships to students each semester, providing them with 50% of the intensive program tuition as the Korean Language Excellence Scholarship. The scholarship award ceremony was attended by Director Park Sun-hee, Vice Director Chu Jeong-ah, and the Korean Language Education Department teachers, who congratulated the scholarship recipients. Friends of the scholarship recipients also joined the event, making it even more meaningful. The ceremony proceeded with congratulatory remarks from the director, the awarding of scholarship certificates, students’ reflections, and a commemorative photo session. Director Park Sun-hee expressed admiration for the students, stating, “Despite the extreme heat last summer, these students studied diligently,” and encouraged them to continue their hard work in the upcoming semester. During the students’ reflections, their outstanding Korean language skills were demonstrated.

The graduation ceremony for the August 2024 short-term course took place on Friday, August 16th, at 5:00 PM in Room 103 of the Ewha Samsung Education and Culture Building. This August short-term program saw participation from over 300 students from around the world, who came to learn Korean during their vacation or holiday. The ceremony began with a video showcasing the students' activities, and the students cheered and enjoyed seeing themselves and their classmates in the footage. The August short-term program also offered various Korean cultural experiences, including visits to Lotte World and Seoul Land, as well as performances of NANTA and The Painters. Ewha Language Center operates short-term program in February, March, April, July, August, and September.
