The 2026 August Short-term Course, which began on Friday, July 31, concluded with a completion ceremony on Tuesday, August 18. A total of approximately 430 students across 31 classes participated in the course. In particular, more than 100 students from over 10 high schools and universities in Japan, as well as a high school in Bulgaria, joined the program to learn Korean and experience Korean culture. IIn addition to Korean language classes, the students also participated in a cultural class at Lotte World, enjoying a fun and memorable experience despite the hot weather. At the completion ceremony, students shared their reflections and expressed their gratitude to the teachers who taught them Korean and to the friends they studied with during their three weeks in Korea. Although the course was short, they looked back on the various activities and experiences they had while learning Korean and experiencing Korean culture and expressed their regret that the course had come to an end. After completing the three-week short-term course, the students said goodbye to one another, looking forward to meeting again in the future.

The 2026 Summer Intensive Course, which began in June amid Korea’s hot summer weather, came to an end with a completion ceremony held on Wednesday, August 12. Approximately 500 students participated in the intensive course, divided into 36 classes according to their Korean proficiency levels, ranging from Level 1 to Level 6. Along with Korean language classes, a variety of cultural experiences and after-school activities were offered throughout the summer semester. Programs included an indoor cultural class at Lotte World, a dance club where students could learn K-pop dance from professional instructors, a visit to the KBS broadcasting station, and a traditional Korean dancheong-pattern keychain-making activity at the Seoul Museum of History. On the final day of the summer semester, completion ceremonies were held in each classroom. Students watched a video featuring highlights of their activities throughout the semester and took time to look back on their experiences. They also shared their thoughts and memories from the semester with their classmates and enjoyed a meaningful time together. Although they were sad to see the semester come to an end, the students looked forward to the upcoming fall semester as they began their two-week break. The 2026 Fall Semester will begin on Tuesday, September 1.

From Monday, 13 July 2026, for one week, a discussion session was held for students from Japanese partner universities who are currently enrolled in the Korean language intensive summer program. Students from Keisen University, Konan Women’s University, Senshu University, and Aichi Shukutoku University, who have been studying since the previous semester, participated in the session. The session was attended by the head instructor of the intensive program and administrative staff, providing an opportunity to exchange opinions on the Korean language courses and cultural classes offered by the Language Education Institute over the past two semesters, Korean language partner activities, and overall life in Korea. The participating students expressed high satisfaction for both the Korean language and cultural programs. The Language Education Institute concluded the session by reaffirming its commitment to actively support students facing any difficulties in learning Korean or living in Korea.

The July Short-term Program, the first short-term course of the 2026 summer term, concluded all its activities with a completion ceremony held on Monday, July 20, 2026. Approximately 250 students participated in the program across 19 classes. In addition to Korean language classes, students enhanced their understanding of Korean culture by attending performances and participating in craft-making and Taekwondo experiences. Furthermore, students from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore—partner institutions of the institute—also joined the program, creating an opportunity to learn Korean language and culture together. At the completion ceremony, students expressed their gratitude to their dedicated instructors and shared heartfelt messages with their fellow classmates. Hoping to meet again in the future, students wrapped up the three-week program with cherished memories.

The SeoulQuest 2026 Commissioned Program officially began on Monday, June 29, at the Institute, marking the start of a six-week program. Seoul Quest 2026 is a commissioned summer program for American high school students designed to deepen their understanding of Korea through Korean language study and cultural experiences during their summer vacation in Korea. The program was first launched in 2025, and this year marks the Institute's first time operating the Korean language curriculum. Korean language classes are held for four hours every weekday morning, Monday through Friday. In the afternoons, students participate in a variety of cultural activities that explore Korea's past, present, and future. At the opening ceremony held on Monday, June 29, the 21 participating students expressed their excitement about the Korean language classes they will experience at the Institute. The six-week program will conclude with a completion ceremony on Friday, August 7.

The July short-term program for the Summer 2026 semester officially began on Tuesday, June 30. A total of 255 students will be enrolling in 19 classes, where they will study Korean language. In addition to language classes, students will watch “Painter’s” performance and participate in various cultural activities by level, such as Taekwondo experiences, traditional dancheong-pattern keyring making, and Hangul design craft workshops, enhancing their understanding of Korean culture. Furthermore, students from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, both partner institutions of our institute, are also participating in this July program. The program is scheduled to conclude with a closing ceremony on Monday, July 20.
